Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal data Vetted Index (vettedindex.com) collects and how we use it, in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

The data controller for personal data collected through this website is Alan Cuzen, trading as Vetted Index ("we", "us"). You can contact us about privacy at listings@vettedindex.com.

Browsing this website

  • No cookies. This website does not set any cookies.
  • No analytics or trackers. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools of any kind.
  • No third-party content. All pages, fonts, images and scripts come from our own server, so your browser does not contact anyone else when you read the site.

Like any website, our server needs your IP address to send pages to your browser. We do not keep access logs of visits to this website. When you send a form, your IP address is held in the server's memory for up to 24 hours to stop abuse (for example, too many forms from one connection). It is never written to disk. The server may keep short-lived technical and security logs, which can include IP addresses, for up to 30 days to keep the service secure. Our lawful basis for this is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.

Requesting quotes

When you use our request-quotes form, we collect your name, organisation, work email, phone number (if you give it), country, the equipment category, your requirements, budget range and timescale, and whether you agreed to your request being shared with suppliers.

  • Why we use it: to handle your request and, if you agree, to pass it to suppliers who can help.
  • Sharing with suppliers: we share your request with relevant suppliers in the category you chose only if you tick the consent box. Our lawful basis for sharing is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by emailing us. Withdrawing does not affect anything already shared. Suppliers who receive your request use your details to contact you about it, under their own privacy notices. If you do not tick the box, your request is not shared with anyone.
  • Lawful basis for handling your request: taking steps at your request, and our legitimate interest in running a buyer and supplier directory.
  • How long we keep it: 12 months from when you send it. It is then deleted automatically.

Claiming a supplier listing

When a supplier claims a listing, we collect the business name and website, the contact's name, job title (if given), work email, phone number (if given), the equipment category and the message sent with the claim.

  • Why we use it: to confirm the claim, to contact you about your listing and to publish it.
  • How claims are confirmed: we email a confirmation link to the address given. A claim is accepted automatically when the link is confirmed and the email address is on the same domain as the business website. Otherwise we review the claim by hand.
  • What is published: only the business name and website, in the relevant category. We never publish your personal contact details.
  • Lawful basis: taking steps at your request, and our legitimate interest in keeping the directory accurate.
  • How long we keep it: the contact details for a live listing are kept while the listing is live. Claim records are deleted 12 months after they were last updated, and claims that are never confirmed are deleted after 30 days.

Who processes your data for us

  • Hosting: our website and forms run on a server provided by IONOS.
  • Email: confirmation emails and notifications to us are sent through Resend, using its servers in the European Union (Ireland). Email we receive is handled by our email provider.
  • Notifications: we receive a short alert by Telegram when a form arrives. It contains no contact details, only the type of form, the category and, for quote requests, the budget, timescale and country.

These providers process data on our behalf under contract. Where any of them processes data outside the UK, appropriate safeguards are in place as required by UK GDPR. We do not sell your data or use it for marketing.

Your rights, and asking for deletion

You have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its use, to data portability and to withdraw consent at any time. To delete your request or claim, or to use any of these rights, email listings@vettedindex.com from the address you used and tell us what you would like. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Changes to this notice

We will update this page if how we use personal data changes. This notice was last updated on 22 October 2026.
